American Idol’s a huge hit, and producers have peddled the franchise to several countries around the world. So yes, you have everything from Philippine Idol to Bulgaria Idol — though with mixed results. Check out Idols around the world from the good, the bad, and the downright scary.
Meet American Idol’s Final 12
America has spoken.
American Idol contestants Kady Malloy, Luke Menard, Asia’h Epperson and Danny Noriega were eliminated.
Kady seemed to expect it, having floundered at most of her performances and being criticised for “having no personality.” (We’ll miss her celebrity impersonations, though.)
Danny Noriega, who has personality to spare, also said goodbye while close friend Ramiele Malubay wept at the sidelines. (He wore her glasses when she performed the day before.)
Nobody’s going to miss Luke’s mediocre performances (Luke who???), but Asia’h was a big loss. The contestant struck a chord with many fans early in the season, after auditioning a few days after her father died and dedicating her performance to him. She was a good singer who made a bad song choice, unfortunately.
The final 12 are: Michael Johns, Seyesha Mercado, David Archuleta, Carly Smithson, David Cook, Ramiele Malubay, Jason Castro, Kristy Lee Cook, David Hernandez, Brooke White, Chikezie and Amanda Overmyer.
High School Musical reality show?
It was bound to happen. With all the hype surrounding high school musical and American Idol, it was only a matter of time before someone would think of combining the two.
ABC and Disney looking into a reality show where high school students try to “out sing and out dance each other.”
Stars Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens will be making guest appearances.
So, will the contestants be required to fall in love?
Danny Noriega Goes Cruisin With Rosie
As I reported a few days back, Rosie has invited Danny Noriega on a cruise, praising the gay, ousted, American Idol contestant: “Let me just say, I love you. I love your attitude. I love your spunk. I love your sassy ways. And I love your voice!“- and Danny has accepted!!
The 18-year-old from California was knocked out of the talent show on March 6th. Danny eagerly accepted the former talk show host’s invite, also gushing ” I love your guts!”. Check out the clip on Rosie’s blog.
Chicken Soup for the American Idol soul
You won’t believe this. There is now a book called Chicken Soup for the American Idol Soul. It’s got stories from contestants, winners, fans, and all the people who have been touched by the show. The introduction is by Paula Abdul, of course — can you imagine Simon Cowell giving a pep talk?
We love American Idol, but as Simon would say, this is all a bit karaoke.
