Becoming a dog lover begins with that first puppy you might have gotten as a child or as a gift from a loved one. They drool, shed and do their business in the most unusual times, dogs have been loved, hated and neglected. Of the hundreds of dog breeds, one may find it hard to choose. Hard to believe but these furry friends of ours do have their individual traits that distinguishes them from the rest. Lab’s are known as an all around family dog, with their playful hearts and mischievous smile. Larger breeds may be lazy yet protective and who doesn’t know of the famed dogs that protect us everyday working with law enforcement and military services.
They guard our homes as if they were their own, they even guard us as masters and friends. They listen when you speak and know when you’re down, they have a sense that defies explanation seeing us deeper than we really are. Life without them becomes dull yet hurt resides when they pass, they will forever be our friends, with their drool and fur they always love whatever the case may be.
Stormy Daniels urged to run for a US Senate seat
I was a surprised to see this news from CNN today. Fans of popular porn star Stormy Daniels are urging her to run for a US Senate seat by the 2010 elections. Stormy Daniels was quoted as to conduct a “listening tour” around Louisiana “to talk about a range of matters, including the economy — which along with women in business and protection of children are the three issues listed on her Web site.”
Only in the USA, eh? This is democracy in action. Anyone can choose to run for public office AND have a fighting chance to win. There is quite a stir, though, as to what the motive behind all this is. The current seated senator is Republican Sen. David Vitter, he was allegedly linked to to the “D.C. Madam,” the woman who ran a prostitution ring. So goes the theory that running a porn star against him on the next elections will remind the public of his alleged “doings”.
But anyway, back to Daniels… she continues to say “Politics can’t be any dirtier of a job than the one I am already in.”
Currently, her political aspirations may be a light diversion for Louisiana voters. And who wouldn’t find this as a popular community fodder? Lift your eyebrows for some juicy exchanges, for sure.
Playboy moving to Chicago
It would seem that the US recession is “far reaching”. Even Playboy headquarters in New York is said to be closing office to move back to Chicago. The office closing will coincide with the probability of laying off the New York staff. This move is seen as part of the company’s restructuring strategy. Mostly because New York real estate is just too much to bear, I guess.
It’s not closing down (!), let me be clear about that, it’s just closing a branch to expand another. But speculations do abound that the magazine is losing its strong foothold to competition.
The company opened its New York City offices on Fifth Avenue in the early 1990s and didn’t move editorial functions there until 2002. It will be an icon company loss for the Big Apple. And Chicago has been known as the second city anyway!
While Playboy is still the best-selling men’s magazine (circulation of 2.6 million), its market share has been eaten away by lad mags like FHM and Maxim. Will we see Playboy going down the drain soon? I’m not too sure about that!
The “golden” sewers of Japan
I didn’t believe it the first time I heard about it, but the stories have proven to be true and correct. Japan has been processing gold (as much as traditional gold mines) from down under their cities. “There is gold in our sewers, I couldn’t believe it!”, says a Japanese businessman who is now re-thinking his concept of “waste”.
The amount of gold extracted from the sludge at a sewer treatment facility in Japan has rivaled production levels at some of the world’s best mines.
Telegraph.co.uk reports that “Tens of thousands of pounds worth of gold has been found at the Suwa treatment facility in the past year, with more than 1,890 grammes of gold per tonne of ash recorded from incinerated sludge.
The gold yield significantly surpasses levels at Japan’s Hishikari Mine, one of the world’s leading gold mines, where 20 to 40 grammes of the precious metal are found per tonne of ore.”
How’s that for treasure! Makes me want to wonder if this can be looked at worldwide! This must be an alternative source for wealth.
New year’s list…. again!
Well, it’s that time of the year again when we TRY to make a list of resolutions we’d hope we will keep. What was your last year’s resolutions? Did you keep the list? If you did, how was it? Did you do at least 50% of them? Ah, if you’re like me you probably have lost the list, haven’t kept any of them and are banging your head WHY you ever made them in the first place.
Back in school, students were encouraged to make a list. I remember those days clearly… what we’d do was make that list, and the teacher would make us recite them in front of class. There was a year when we had a “buddy” who’d keep us to our promises day in and out of the new year. You guessed it (!) that buddy never did check after the first week, and that teacher forgot to check.
If you’re the type who like lists, make a new year’s resolution. I’d encourage you to post it somewhere you can always see, like the refrigerator door, a mirror, or somewhere you frequently glance on. It didn’t help me, but it may do you good. 🙂
