Life is a tad bit harder with the recession biting hard and with jobs being harder to come by, more and more people are getting desperate with their financial needs. Blogging the whole day, well time to get healthy and stretch out from time to time for too much sitting down can get some stuff accumulating in your belly. This being the case, there are many who forget that they should be watching over their health more now than ever. The stresses that build up everyday need to vent and what better way to get it all out than with some exercises that not only gives your whole body the necessary pump but the mind enough time to clear itself as you work away the flub that has accumulated all those years in the office.
Even with a job, constant exercise is necessary to maintain a healthy life and how can you expect to get back ion your toes when your health is on the rocks. have a lot of time on your hands, dedicate some of it for exercise routines that gets you healthy and keeps you healthy for the time when you may be called upon again by corporate life to serve in its offices!!
Be Careful What Halloween Face Paint You Use!
Dressing up as something scary or weird on Halloween is perhaps the most exciting thing about this holiday. It’s thus not a surprise that a lot of people say that Halloween is their favorite holiday among all the holidays in the western world. Aside from the dresses and costumes, children have become excited about face paint. Actually, even adults go all out when it comes to face paint!
But did you know that not all face paint products in the market are safe for use? In a study done by Campaign for Safe Cosmetics, it was revealed that many face paint products contain materials that are harmful! MSN gives the dish:
The report, issued by the Campaign for Safe Cosmetics, is titled: Pretty Scary: Could Halloween Face Paint Cause Lifelong Health Problems? Researchers tested 10 face paint products, the types widely available via the Internet or in craft or Halloween stores.
“All 10 face paint products tested contained lead, and six out of 10 had known skin allergens, including nickel, cobalt or chromium, at levels above recommendations of industry studies,” said Stacy Malkan, the campaign’s co-founder and a co-author of the report. Malkan is also the author of Not Just a Pretty Face, a 2007 book detailing what she sees as the potentially hazardous ingredients in cosmetics.
For the new report, she said, “We looked for a range of heavy metals, and we didn’t find mercury or arsenic. Other countries have found those in face paints. We did unfortunately find lead in all the products.” Exposure to lead can cause developmental and behavioral problems, experts agree.
I don’t know about you, but the findings are pretty SCARY – and in the real sense, mind you! So what should you do? I would suggest avoiding face paints altogether. While this might disappoint your child greatly, you just need to explain the reality to them. Alternatively, try to look for organic materials or products to use. These may be more expensive and may not be as fun as “normal” face paint, but at least you can assure your child’s safety this Halloween.

Get Your Kids Into The Olympic Bandwagon
We’re right smack in the middle of the Winter Olympics. Have your kids gotten into the spirit of it all yet? It saddens me that today, some kids would rather play sports via the PlayStation (or any other gaming console) than actually go outdoors and kick some butt. With the Winter Olympics going on, though, it might be a great time to show your kids just how fun actually playing sports is!
How do you do this? Simple: tune in to the broadcasts of the Olympics as much as you can. No matter how you look at it, the games are glamorous enough to encourage your kid to try sports himself/herself.
You don’t stop there, though. More than simply watching the Olympics on TV (and the Net, perhaps), your next step should be to “drag” your kid out and have some real fun.
If you’ve got a little girl, you might want to take her out to the skating rink. There’s no better time than now! Just make sure you glam things up a bit by dressing her up nicely in an Olympic-style tutu. Some glitters and made up hair won’t hurt, too.
For little boys (or girls, even), try cycling. If the weather doesn’t permit, find an inside bike track. Gear your kid up with enough padding and a helmet. Equip yourself with a stopwatch and a red flag (a hanky will do) and go get some training done.
There are many other activities that you can choose from depending on your child’s preferences. The bottom line is that you wrack your brain to up the activity a couple of notches. You never know, you might have an Olympian in the making!
Why Do Kids Get Bullied?
I have always believed that getting bullied is NOT the fault of the child who is on the receiving end of the aggressive behavior. It is the same reasoning behind believing that there is no excuse for men raping or beating women.
According to a recent study, however, there are certain factors that contribute to a child being prone to being bullied by his peers. The study was led by Clark McKown from the Rush Neurobehavioral Center in Chicago. His team identified at least three problem areas in nonverbal communication. They are:
• Reading nonverbal cues
• Understanding their social meaning
• Coming up with options for resolving a social conflict.
While I maintain my belief that these problems do not justify bullying in any way, the identification of these problems can help parents and educators in dealing with victims of bullying. If these problem areas contribute to being bullied, then they can be addressed and hopefully, the bullied child can find a way out of his situation.
Experts point out that the bottom line is to teach children social skills. He says that it is worse for those who are rejected by their peers because they already have problems in this area to begin with. Rejection and isolation just make it worse as they do not have opportunities to practice their social skills.
This highlights an important thing for parents: make sure that you children get enough exposure to their peers as early as possible to help them gain the necessary social skills.
Duggars Introduce Newest Baby
The whole Duggar family is no stranger to the limelight. They have been featured on TV, magazines, newspapers and every member of the family is used to the coverage. Last year, Michelle and Jim Bob Duggar announced that they were expecting their 19th child. Naturally, they were once again exposed to publicity.
On December 10, 2009, Michelle gave birth to Josie Brooklyn. She was born prematurely, at only 25 weeks’ gestation. The much awaited birth of the Duggars’ 19th child was a mixture of joy and anxiety as being born at this stage is a very dangerous affair. Indeed, Michelle has said that if her baby were born many years ago, she probably wouldn’t have lived even for an hour.
Yet seven weeks later, baby Josie Brooklyn is very much alive and doing quite well. In fact, the Duggars have finally introduced her to the rest of the world by releasing her photos. When Josie Brooklyn was born, she weighed a mere 1 lb and 6 oz. Today, she weighs 2 lbs. and 3 oz.
The whole family has been with her the whole time, moving temporarily from their home in Tontitown, Arkansas to Little Rock. Her current “home” is the intensive care unit of the Arkansas Children’s Hospital. The Duggars are quite happy with her progress and are very thankful for the doctors and the nurses that are taking care of baby Josie. They continue to express their thanks and say that they are hopeful that everything will turn out for the best.
