First they lambasted Filipino doctors and the entire Filipino race for that matter. Now they’re calling former Philippine president Corazon Aquino a “slut.”
What insult will these sissies say next?
Are the American TV networks going nuts or what? Do they think their shows would rate higher by bashing other people’s heads?
Civilization for these Americans has indeed taken a gigantic leap backward into prehistoric times.
Who, if not a boorish Neanderthal, would utter such a despicable word against Cory? For the information of these Neanderthals, Cory Aquino is a revered icon in the Philippines known for her clean living and religiosity. She is also the woman who led the first People Power revolution in the world and overthrew the well-entrenched Marcos dictatorship.
That People Power revolution in the Philippines in 1986 sparked other mass uprisings in the world, eventually leading to the collapse of the Berlin Wall and the reunification of East and West Germany, and – ultimately – the end of the Cold War with the disintegration of the Soviet Union.
Now these Neanderthals are saying that the woman and the people who inspired such global revolution are a slut and untrustworthy?
Following the racial slur against Filipino medical practitioners on the US television drama series “Desperate Housewives,” another US television show – the “Daily Show” by John Stewart –virtually labelled Aquino a “slut” last Sept. 18. The “Daily Show” is a satirical news program aired over American cable channel Comedy Central.
Deedee Sytangco, spokeswoman of the former president, said the slut reference was included in a segment by correspondent Samantha Bee titled “Is America Ready for a Woman President?”
The segment showed pictures of various women leaders including former British prime minister Margaret Thatcher, former Israeli prime minister Golda Meir and former president Aquino. Aquino’s picture had the word “slut” written on it.
Sytangco said the segment of the Sept. 18 episode of “The Daily Show” is posted on YouTube.com. (http://youtube.com/watch?v=jc4RhBBw0b8)
The segment also showed Meir’s picture with a word balloon saying “Oy!” while Thatcher’s image was digitally manipulated to show her face on the body of pop star Britney Spears. It was the notorious Britney Spears photo where she was caught on camera with no underwear.
Sought for her comment, Cory Aquino expressed annoyance upon hearing about how she was spoofed in the “Daily Show.”
“I’ve already prayed for the people behind it. I’m leaving it all up to God,” said the former president.
Aquino’s daughter, television personality Kris Aquino also took offense at the spoof saying Americans would not like it either if Filipinos made fun of their presidents.
“What if we took someone like, say, former President Jimmy Carter who builds homes for the poor all over the world, and said he was a former ‘call boy’ (male prostitute)?”
For her part, feisty Senator Miriam Defensor Santiago called on the Philippine government to lodge a diplomatic protest against the United States in order to “draw the line” when it comes to jokes about former presidents.
Well, it’s good there’s such a thing as karma. Those who throw dirt at other people will eventually get hit by the same dirt – perhaps even the kind that really stinks.
