A lot of people are guilty of accumulating so many personal items in their homes. Too often, they realize this when their rooms no longer have enough space to accommodate their stuff.
Women, in particular, tend to have this habit of collecting things. Whether it be appliances, clothes, shoes and accessories as well as home decors, many never get enough of what they have that they continue to buy more as time goes by.
The resulting problem of this situation is too much clutter in your home. Sometimes, this gets out of control that homeowners find themselves helpless as to how to start organizing their personal items. Fortunately, there are now home makeover shows that offer to help families with this kind of issue.
But to those who don’t want to show on TV the mess they have at home, you can always take action. What counts is you find the time to start cleaning up and get the help of a family member or better yet, your entire family.
It’s important that you do it room by room. Start in your bedroom. For sure, you have a lot of organizing to do there. Begin by organizing your clothes and putting those you don’t want to use in a separate box. Do the same step with your shoes, accessories and books.
For each room, be sure you have a box wherein to put things you want to dispose. This way, they are also organized and not mixed with all the other stuff.
From your bedroom, proceed to the kitchen and then the living room. If you have a garage, you can organize stuff there too.
Once you’re done organizing, gather the boxes with the extra items and decide what to do with them. Your options are to donate to charity or hold a garage sale if you want to earn a little from them. Set a specific date for your yard sale and don’t forget to promote it to friends, colleagues and your neighbors to gather as much as people as possible.
After you’ve completed the steps, do commit to content yourself with the things you currently have and refrain from buying more items that are not really necessary.
