Anyone who lives near mosquitos knows that they can be the most irritating part of your life if they’re out and hungry, snacking on you, your family, and your friends. They can ruin anything that occurs outdoors, and cause lasting pain and irritation from their bites.
However, there is hope when it comes to controlling the mosquito problem, and the four following ways to approach the situation will at the very least get you educated, and ideally help you solve your specific needs be they either current or future-oriented – so consider calling the experts, getting rid of standing water, trying some of the organic methods, or just using appropriate bug repellent on an individual basis.
Call the Experts
Your best and most complete option is to contact a pest control specialist and give them all of the info about your situation. Find the most local place first, and see if they provide the service you need, then move outward from there if you have to. The closer a company is to you, the more they will understand the lay of the land, and the less travel will be involved as well in getting the solution organized.
Get Rid of Standing Water
The easiest thing you can do on a personal level is to get rid of standing water anywhere near your home, or near the event, if that’s what you’re trying to keep the biters away from. Mosquitos need very little water to breed, so even small puddles, bowls with water in them, or even things like tires that hold still water in them are huge breeding grounds for mosquitos and thousands of them can come directly from each of those sources. Scour the area, tip the water out, get rid of the problem.
Try a Few Organic Methods
Other organic methods of mosquito removal are also sometimes helpful on a small level. For instance, if you just want to keep the bugs out of a small area of your yard, there are a number of different ways that you can approach that on a strictly organic, non-chemical level, using just basic materials that you can buy at local shops.
Use Appropriate Bug Repellant
If you’re trying to deal with your mosquito problem just on a personal space level, there are all sorts of different bug repellents to try. There are lotions, sprays, powered fans, candles, and any other number of tricks to keep you safe from bites. Realistically, you’re going to have to try a few of them to find out which work the best, as different body types and different environments are going to have an effect on their overall effectiveness, so keep this in mind.
