When the warm weather comes people tend to think about spending more time outside, which means spending more time in your own yard as well. When it comes to spending time outside in your own yard you want it to look well kempt and be clean and enjoyable. This is your outdoor sanctuary after all.
Having a cluttered backyard with overgrown grass is not going to promote relaxation, which is the point of a sanctuary. You want to feel safe and comfortable, and be able to clear your mind. So here are some tips to make your backyard into a comfortable oasis.
Do Some Landscaping
Start out with some landscaping to make your backyard look nice and stylish. Make sure that you know all the landscaping rules, like how far away from your home to plant trees, and what kind of effects watering flowers at the base of your foundation will have on your home. You don’t want to cost yourself more money down the road.
Make your yard something that makes you proud and relaxes you. If weeding flower beds isn’t going to be relaxing to you then you may not want to plant too many of those. You can help prevent some weeds with some mulch around the flowers as well.
Consider A Focal Point
Having something worth looking at in your yard will inspire you to spend more time out there. That something could be something as simple as an angel statue in the middle of a flower garden, or it could be something as elaborate as a water fountain in the middle of a pond.
Maybe you want to be a little more relaxed and put in a koi pond that can give you something to stare at for hours on end. Your koi pond will make a great focal point, and can be a great place to do your meditations each day.
Relaxing Furnishings
You can’t have a sanctuary without some comfort. Backyards are great places for hammocks, and you can definitely relax in one of those. However, you probably won’t be spending all of your time sleeping when you are in the backyard.
Consider some nice outdoor furniture that is made for your climate. You may want to get some cushions for your seats to make them more comfy. Mood lighting matters too!
If you want your own outdoor oasis, a sanctuary where you can quietly spend warm evenings under the stars, or time in the sun, create a backyard that is worthy of the name. It’s not that difficult, and you’ll be feeling more relaxed in no time. It will also make a great place for inviting some friends to enjoy the quiet.
