Even though a lot of people associate hair loss with men, that’s not to say that women aren’t affected by it too. I can be downright horrifying to feel a chunk of your hair come out in your hand and wonder what’s going on?
The truth is that there are many reasons that can cause hair loss, so the answer might not be apparent right away. Sometimes it may be a question of looking at several different possibilities and deciding which one makes the most sense.
From there, you can look for products and solutions that are tailored for your particular situation.
Here are some possible reasons why your hair may be falling out.
Stress
Stress isn’t just something that we experience emotionally. It can also present itself physically, like making our hair fall out. If you lead a particularly hectic lifestyle between work and home, then it’s a likely reason for your hair woes.
Try to take note of the times when your hair seems particularly susceptible to falling out. If it falls during times that you’re under tight deadlines or pressure at home, then it may be time to start exploring whether there’s a connection.
Pregnancy Hormones
When you first get pregnant you’ll notice that your hair is thicker and more beautiful than ever. You may feel like you’re going to ride the good hair wave forever. However, once birth comes along, you may notice that it comes to a grinding halt.
Because of your abrupt drop in hormones, your hair can start to fall out. This sudden change can leave a lot of women in a panic. However, it’s perfectly normal and won’t last forever. Eventually, your hair will return to normal.
Vitamin Deficiency
In some cases your body may be lacking a particular vitamin that your body needs more of. Lacking certain vitamins can make your body act up in a variety of negative ways. Make sure that you talk to your doctor about your diet, and whether they suspect you may be lacking important nutrients.
Male (or Female) Pattern Baldness
This condition is a type of hair loss attributed to hormones. The hair follicles become so small over time that it stops producing new hairs. You’ll notice that it’s usually in the same spot, down the center of the head, creating a U-shaped hair pattern along the top of the head.
There are medications available to encourage hair growth, however, it’s not always guaranteed. People who have male or female pattern baldness may have to simply accept their body’s composition one day and count their losses. It may simply be a question of genetics that you can’t control.
