Ryan Murphy’s got a lot of things going for him. He’s got a hit TV show (Glee), a hit movie (he directed Eat, Pray, Love), and he’s also scaring the crap out of TV audiences with his wonderful American Horror Story. But you can add another movie to his already formidable work load.
According to reports, a dinner that he hosted that was attended by A-listers Gwyneth Paltrow, Cameron Diaz and Reese Witherspoon, has actually resulted in a pitch idea that has been readily snatched up by Sony.
The movie is tentatively titled One Hit Wonders and will tell the story of three singers – to be played by Paltrow, Diaz and Witherspoon) – who had chart toppers in the 90s. But subsequently their careers fizzled. They decide to make a comeback by creating a supergroup.
Beyonce Knowles is allegedly already signed on as a cast in the movie, as well as Andy Samberg, who will not just be acting but also contributing musically with his Lonely Island group.
This movie looks like it’s going to be a lot of fun. But don’t expect Murphy to work on this movie immediately. Although he has already approached Brad Falchuk and Ian Brennan (his Glee co-conspirators) to help him write the script, he has yet to finish working on his project The Normal Heart. He also has another movie in development that will star Julia Roberts.
Talk about busy.
