One of the coolest treats for anyone who grew up in the 80s and 90s when watching The Expendables was seeing Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sylvester Stallone share screen time, albeit only for just a few minutes. It was every action fans’ wet dream to see these two icons of action appear in a movie together. Of course, it has left them wanting more.
And more is what they’ll be getting with the announcement that Arnold Schwarzenegger has signed on to appear in The Tomb alongside Sylester Stallone. Arnie was actually offered the lead role in the movie but passed on it. Sly then got the juicy role. Reports say that Arnold will play supporting part in the movie.
The Tomb tells the story of Ray Breslin, considered the best designer of high-tech prisons. His prisons are considered inescapable. Breslin is framed and thrown into one of the prisons he designed and he has to outsmart his own prison in order to escape.
The former Gobernator will play the role of Church, who is another inmate in the said prison. His character is more like the elder statesman of sorts for the rest of the prisoners. I guess that’s the reason why he got attracted to Church’s role and not the lead. Perhaps, he’s preparing for another run for public office?
The Expendables 2, the other movie where Arnie and Sly will be together will be shown on August 17.
