When you’re in an accident in real life, it can be one of the most terrifying experiences in your life. Obviously if it’s just a fender bender you might be shaken up, but you can usually drive away. Major accidents cause fear, panic, injury, and sometimes death.
In the movies you don’t always see people exchanging their insurance information, and you definitely never see them going through an accident checklist. From serial killer stuntmen to scorned women, here are five movie accidents that will have you afraid to get in a car again.
Death Proof
In 2007 Quentin Tarantino released yet another edge of your seat movie, this time with a film about a stunt car driver that lives through all of his crashes. However, the people he picks up and gives rides to don’t. There are plenty of car crashes in this film, as well as lots of blood and death.
For people that aren’t fans of Tarantino, it’s maybe not the best movie choice, but it’s still a wild ride. Get it?
Vanilla Sky
2001s Vanilla Sky features a scene with Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz where Diaz’s character is driving a vehicle and spilling her guts to Cruise about her feelings for him. If you’ve already seen this film, you know that it is a strange, confusing ride of a movie, but that crash takes the cake.
You may want to make sure you never have romantic discussions with a woman behind the wheel.
Final Destination 2
The Final Destination franchise is all about car crashes, death, and explosions. However, the second installment, from 2003, had the best car crash scene of them all, in some people’s opinions anyway.
You know the whole time while they are driving on that wet road, and the camera continually pans to that truck hauling tree trunks, that something bad is going to happen. And, oh, does it!
Premonition
2007s Premonition is about a woman, played by Sandra Bullock, who keeps living the days of one week over and over, but not in order. The premise is that she is trying to save her husband from dying in a car crash. When you finally get to witness the crash, it’s a doozy.
Any Action Movie
If you’re a fan of the car crashes in movies, you can catch at least one in almost any action adventure movie ever made. The Transformers entire movie catalog is full of them. You can see some creative and frightening crashes in the newest Mad Max movie too.
Just pick a film and watch it, and you’ll see a crash if it’s an action film.
There are some other great films with car crashes in them, for consideration. Those include Disturbia, Adaptation, and if you want to head back to the 90s, there’s a movie called Crash, about a car crash.
