This year’s Emmys will launch a new awards category — best reality show hosts — and all five nominees will host the awards show this Sept 21.
Tom Bergeron (Dancing with the Stars), Howie Mandel (Deal or No Deal), Heidi Klum (Project Runway) and Jeff Probst (Survivor) will join Ryan Seacrest (American Idol), last year’s theater-in-the-round ringmaster.
Get a quick look at the Emmy nominees — including those for Best Host of a Reality Series. Yep, they’ve finally opened up a category for them. Ryan Seacrest and Heidi Klum are in the running, but Gordon Ramsay should get a special mention for “most swear words every spoken in a thirty minute segment.”
Congratulations to Sarah Silverman and Christina Applegate for being shortlistedby the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences for the 2008 Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series.
Ellen Degeneres is on a roll. She won Outstanding Talk Show Host, beating Barbara Walters. Tyra Banks won the inaugural Emmy for Outstanding Informative Talk Show. Outstanding talk show award went to Rachael Ray. Read this for a complete list of the winners.
The MTV Music Awards was definitely one of the biggest TV youth events. And it was studded wit stars — Paris Hilton with “true love of the moment” Benji Madden, Sarah Jessica Parker spilling her guts about the “Sex and the City” movie, and Brendan Fraser grabbing all opportunities (literally) to plug his movie “Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor and Journey to the Center of the Earth.”
Mike Myers spoofed “Wings of Desire” also to plug “The Love Guru” while Charlize Theron talked about their movie “Hancock.”
But it wasn’t all shameless self promotion. Johnny Depp humbly took on two awards for his role as Captain Jack in Pirates of the Caribbean and best villain for Sweeney Todd.
