We already probably know this, but for the sake of putting things on the record, let’s take a look at a recent study conducted by Quality Planning. This is a group that works with car insurance companies. What they do is to check on the information of policy holders.
So what did they find out? The study basically says that men are more likely to throw caution to the wind when on the road, as compared to women. In order to come up with the results, the group took a look at various factors including citations for DUI, reckless driving, seatbelt violations, speeding, and not following basic traffic signs such as yield.
The numbers are quite clear. In ALL of the cases, men had a higher violation count than women. Naturally, this is not to say that ALL men are worse drivers than ALL women. I can name more women than I can count with my fingers who are arguably more dangerous on the road than some men. Then again, numbers do not really lie, do they?
What does this mean for us average joes who have to get insurance? If you’re a woman like me, lucky you! The numbers are on our side, and we’ll probably get better deals when it comes to car insurance. As for the male of the species, be prepared to deal with tough insurance agents who may give you a hard time with your policy. If you’re a good driver who follows all the rules, though, you shouldn’t have anything to worry about – your squeaky clean record should speak for itself.
For the women: The next time a man disses your driving, point them to this article!
