Quentin Tarantino is already considering what movie he’s going to direct next after his critical and box office sensation Inglorious Basterds. He’s already mentioned that he is seriously considering making a third Kill Bill movie, but he has to write the script for this movie first.
One other thing Tarantino is considering is making a western, but of course with that trademark Tarantino twist.
Tarantino said that he wants to do a western but instead of setting it in Texas (like most westerns do), he wants to set it during the time of slavery in the United States. Tarantino said that it’s a good opportunity to “shine that light on ourselves,” especially with a subject that everyone still considers quite sensitive. In typical Tarantino style, he said that instead of making a ponderous history lesson on slavery, a good adventure movie about them would be a better idea. He then said that instead of a western, he’d call his new take on the genre a Southern.
I’m a big Tarantino fan so I think that this new idea of his is going to work.
Eli Roth to appear in Inglorious Bastards
Quentin Tarantino has chosen Roth to play a role in his upcoming movie Inglorious Bastards. Unfortunately, it’s not Tim Roth but Tarantino’s friend, director Eli Roth.
Roth is being wooed to play Sgt. Donnie Donowitz, a baseball-wielding nazi hunter. I have to admit that I am disappointed that a different Roth has been in talks to star in this movie. I think Tim Roth should be cast as he is one talented actor. I am still hoping that this is actually a miscommunication and that they are referring to Tim Roth all along.
Brad Pitt is still in negotiations to play Aldo Raine but it looks like Leonardo DiCaprio will not be involved in the movie as Tarantino decided that the part of SS Col. Hans Landa should be played by a German actor.
Inglorious Bastards moving along nicely
Quentin Tarantino’s Inglorious Bastards is shaping up to be one hell of a movie.
The as yet to be shot movie is now with Universal Pictures and has recently signed an agreement to partner with the Weinstein Company to produce the movie. Tarantino and Harvey Weinstein actually met with five studios weeks ago and chose between Paramount and Universal. The final decision eventually went Universal’s way.
Tarantino is now meeting with Brad Pitt for the role of Aldo Raine and Leonardo DiCaprio for the role of the Nazi Hans Landa.
Shooting is expected to commence this fall.
RZA to write, direct martial arts movie
Hiphop genius and martial arts fanatic RZA said that he currently developing a martial arts movie with director Eli Roth.
The movie, entitled The Man with The Iron Fist, has nothing to do whatsoever with the Marvel superhero. RZA said that he got the blessing of his “teacher” Quentin Tarantino to make the movie.
According to Roth, RZA is not only writing the movie, he will also direct it. He’ll probably do the music too, which is a great treat for his fans.
Tarantino hard at work on Inglorious Bastards, talking with Pitt
Quentin Tarantino is reportedly hard at work doing pre-production for his movie Inglorious Bastards, a movie that he will do with the Weinstein Company.
The movie will have similar themes to The Dirty Dozen-a group of soldiers that are sent behind enemy lines. The group is looking at accelerating production so that they will have time to submit the film in next year’s Cannes Film Festival.
One other interesting news about the movie is that Tarantino is reportedly talking to Brad Pitt regarding a role that he can play in the movie.
